GM Reached All-Time Record Sales for the First Half of 2007

General Motors Europe has reached an all-time record sale of 1,127,871 units which is an increase of 56,373 units as compared to what it has obtained in the first half of 2006. With such increase in sales the maker of high quality Saab exhaust, General Motors has been able to obtain a 9.6 percent market share which is an increase of 0.3 point from the previous first half of last year.
GM Europe was also been able to achieve for the second quarter sales volume a record of 574,246 units which is an increase of 26,016 units as compared to the same period in 2006.
And according to Jonathan Browning, GM Europe Vice President for sales, Marketing and Aftersales, "We are building momentum thanks to an integrated group brand strategy in Europe. At the same time we are taking advantage of an overhauled product portfolio and an aggressive growth strategy in Central and Eastern Europe, where Chevrolet is becoming a major player. Our different strategies for Western and Eastern Europe are allowing us to maintain sales growth while also continuing to improve our revenue performance and the overall quality of our sales."
The other top performers among the GM s brands include:
*Chevrolet with an all-time record of 215,315 units which is an over 30 percent increase from the first half of 2006. Its market share is also up by 0.4 point to 1.8 percent. June has proven to be a strong month for the brand.
For the second quarter Chevrolet has reached 114,610 units with market share up by 1.9 percent thus recording a new all-time record for the brand.
*Opel Corsa has been able to record sales growth of 50 percent covering the months from January to June with 243,540 units from the 162,391 units sold last year. The Opel Corsa is also the overall best selling car in Greece as well as the best selling small car in Germany and Ireland. Last June the Opel brand has led the small car segment in markets like Switzerland, Portugal, and the UK.
*Vauxhall has topped UK sales chart for the month of June with 33,161 cars registered and a 14.88 percent market share. The top performers for Vauxhall are its Astra which is the overall number one brand in the UK with 10,425 units up by 29.6 percent, Vauxhall Vectra, Vauxhall Zafira, and the new Vauxhall Corsa.
*Saab was also able to sell 45,275 units in Europe for the first six months of 2007 obtaining 0.4 percent
*Cadilllac together with Hummer and Corvette were able to reach 3,744 units sold.
The next sales press releases will be announced on October 8 this year and January 7 of next year.
